The Financialization of Art

I’m a New York-based artist. I spent sixteen years in finance as a stockbroker before becoming an artist. My work now explores the blurred line between collecting art and investing in it.

To the best of my knowledge, I’m the first artist to use abstract oil paintings to show the mistaken belief that collecting art is investing. I began the series in 2025.

The art market and the stock market are two separate systems. In my paintings, colors from one appear in the other, and the two look like one system.  

The finished painting visualizes the misconception that collecting art and investing are the same thing.
